Read your dreams.

Verónica Blumentals by a window, the morning light on her face

A method for reading your own dreams: mathematical structure and Jungian analysis. It does not interpret them for you; it teaches you to read them yourself.

On waking. Morning capture: write the dream down in the order it came, without correcting or explaining.

The decision is already in you.

A career that has stopped fitting. A relationship at a turn. Work that will not move. The columns come out even, and you are standing exactly where you started.

That is not a thinking problem. Thinking has done what it can. It is a listening problem, and the part of you that already knows has been answering every night, in a language nobody taught you to read. This method does not begin with what your dream means. It begins with how to read it yourself.

Matemática del Alma is a method of reading dreams symbolically that joins mathematical structure with Jungian analysis. It reads each dream through several lenses (biographical, symbolic, linguistic, temporal and mythic, among others) so that you learn to recognise the language that is your unconscious's own.

Four movements, one day.

The practice runs on the shape of an ordinary day. Each movement feeds the next, and the last one hands you back to the first, which is why it compounds instead of fading.

Context map

During the day, the context map.

Set the dream beside the day that produced it, and the stretch of life you are crossing. The meaning is almost never in the symbol alone.

Question the dream2 of 5
  • What is it telling me?
  • What do the figures tell me?
  • Why do they appear like this, in this setting?
  • How do they act towards each other?
  • Where is the centre of the dream?

Through the day, question it.

Choose the strongest image and keep it present, asking what it tells you and where the centre is that the dream turns around.

Tomorrow: morning capture

Before sleep, the incubation.

With the body moving and one question: what you are looking for, what you want to let go of, what you need to understand. By morning you are back at the first movement, holding the answer.

It starts with a question.

Nothing is saved until you say so.

Open the morning capture and the first thing it asks is whether you dreamt. Then it takes you through three steps (tell it, refine it, review it) and nothing is saved until you say so.

Once there is a record, you can question it: by figure, by tag, by date, or with the question the method really cares about: what did I dream on this day, in every other year?

See the plans

More than twenty years of dreams, on a single plane.

Every point is one dated dream. This is not an illustration: it is the record Matemática del Alma came out of, put in order and left open for you to look at.

The marked threads are the figures that kept coming back. None of them was chosen in advance: they surfaced from putting the dreams in date order and seeing what insisted, sometimes with years between one night and the next. That is what the method teaches you to do with your own record, and why the first movement is to write. Without a record there is nothing to put in order.

Portrait of Verónica Blumentals

Twenty years of nightly record

Verónica trained in mathematics. She has spent three decades watching psychology take custody of the psyche, and more than twenty keeping the nightly record that became Matemática del Alma: series that follow each other across decades, the same places returning years apart.

She will not interpret your dreams

She teaches you to read them yourself, in small circles she guides. Between sessions Alma keeps you company: the AI guide Verónica trained on her own work. Alma replaces no one.

Your dreams
are not noise.

They are a continuous account of where you are and what you are moving toward, running every night whether or not anyone reads it. The only question is whether you learn to read it yourself.
